Can the U.S. Army's Leadership Principles...be used as a basis for corporate leadership development?

The principles incorporate all the elements needed for leadership in the corporate world today including: development of self and subordinates; problem solving and decision making; communication; teambuilding; and, most importantly, focus on a mission.

U.S. ARMY LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES
  • Know yourself and seek self-improvement

  • Be technically and tactically proficient

  • Seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions

  • Make sound and timely decisions

  • Set the example

  • Know your soldiers [employees] and look out for their well-being

  • Keep your subordinates informed

  • Develop a sense of responsibility in your subordinates

  • Ensure the task is understood, supervised, and accomplished

  • Build the team

  • Employ your [business] unit in accordance with its capabilities

Well, what do you think? Does leadership in your organization measure up to these principles?
